Turkey Leg
The turkey leg is worked from the bone to the top of the leg.
Starting with cream yarn:
Rnd 1: 3 sc in a Mr (3)
Rnd 2: [1 sc, BBL], inc, [BBL, 1 sc] (6) – you may need to push your BBLs outward after rnd 3.
Rnd 3: 6 sc (6)
Rnd 4: (1 sc, dec) x 2 (4)
Color change to brown. Fasten off cream, you can stuff the bone if you’d like or just use yarn tails.
Rnd 5: (inc, 1 sc) x 2 (6)
Rnd 6: 6 inc (12)
Rnd 7: 12 sc (12)
Rnd 8: (1 sc, inc) x 6 (18)
Rnd 9-10: 18 sc (18) (2 rounds)
Rnd 11: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (12)
Insert eyes between rnd 8-9, approx 3-4 sts apart. Start stuffing the turkey leg.
Rnd 12: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing closed. Finish stuffing, make sure to stuff after the last round to make sure the top of the turkey leg is nice and round.
To close, use the yarn tail, thread onto a needle and weave the needle through the FLO sts of rnd 12, pull gently but firmly to close. Hide tail.
(Optional) Using black acrylic yarn, embroider a smile right between the eyes.
