Whether it’s for easter, a baby shower, or a birthday, there’s never a bad time for a soft and huggable little bunny. This free crochet bunny pattern can be made in a variety of yarns for different-sized stuffed bunnies.

Stitches used in the pattern are simple and basic, like single crochet stitches, bobble stitches, and some crochet techniques like increasing and decreasing.

The final measurements for the smaller bunny are 7.5 cm, and the large bunny is 15 cm, using the same materials.

It’s a very simple crochet project that you can crochet in no time, making it perfect for gift bags, easter baskets, or just to bring a little handmade charm to your spring decorations.


Materials

  • 3 mm crochet hook for small bunny, 5 mm crochet hook for larger bunny
  • Thin chenille yarn for small bunny, bulk chenille yarn for a larger bunny in the color you prefer
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Black and pink thread from embroidery
  • Stitch marker
  • Polyfiber stuffing

Size: small bunny – 7,5 cm, larger bunny – 15 cm

Mr – magic ring
sc – single crochet
bo – booble stitch
inc – increase
dec – decrease
ch – chain

Ears x2

Color A.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a Mr (6)
Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
Rnd 3-5: 9 sc (9) (3 rounds)
Rnd 6: (1 sc, dec) x 3 (6)

Fasten off and set aside.

Do not stuff the ear.

Follow the steps above to make another ear but do not fasten off.

Joining Ears

Color A.

With the 2nd ear still on your hook ch 3, take the 1st ear and count 3 sts back from where you stopped and insert your hook into this 3rd st. This will be the 1st st of your rnd.

Rnd 1: 6 sc around the 1st ear, 3 sc into the ch, 6 sc around the 2nd ear, 3 sc on the opposite side of the ch (18)

Rnd 3: 24 sc (24)
Rnd 4: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (30)
Rnd 5-6: 30 sc (30) (2 rounds)
Rnd 7: (14 sc, inc) x 2 (32)
Rnd 8: 32 sc (32)
Rnd 9: 7 sc, bo, 12 sc, bo, 11 sc (32)

Change to color B.

Rnd 10-11: 32 sc (32) (2 rounds)
Rnd 12: 30 sc, Color A bo, Color B 1 sc (32)
Rnd 13: 10 sc, Color A bo, Color B 7 sc, Color A bo, COlor B 13 sc (32)
Rnd 14: (2 sc, dec) x 8 (24)

Start stuffing the bunny nice and even until the end.

Rnd 15: (1 sc, dec) x 8 (16)
Rnd 16: dec x 8 (8)

Fasten off and leave a yarn tail to close the hole by inserting your needle only through the 8 front loops of the last round.

Face Details

  • Embroider the eyes in rnd 7 approx. 6 sts apart, using black yarn.
  • Emdroider a little nose using pink yarn by creating a horizontal line 3 sts long between rnds 7-8 and a vertical line right in the middle of the horizontal line on rnd 8.
