Let’s make this beginner-friendly crochet puppy pattern with soft, squishy, and just the right amount of floppy. The design is simple with easy-to-follow instructions.
This free puppy crochet pattern works up quickly with soft velvet yarn. This amigurumi version is the perfect size for small hands and a quick make! There are so many color options you can play around with.
All you need to make this puppy is to know some basic crochet stitches like single crochet stitches, and some crochet techniques like increases and decreases.
The written instructions below include how to make this puppy; it starts with making the head, ears, body, front paws, hind paws, and tail, and then attaching the ears and head to the body of the puppy.
Materials
- Soft valvet yarn any color you like
- 4 mm crochet hook
- 10 mm safety eyes
- Safety nose (optional)
- Stuffing
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle

Variation tip: rather have a standing puppy? Create the front paw pattern 4x and use two of them as hind paws. Make sure to stuff extra firmly to gibe the puppy enough tability.

Stuff the tail firmly. Fasten off and leave a piece for sewing.
Assembly
- Sew the ears to the sides of the head. Sew the head onto the open part of the body. The slight “bulge” on top of the body should be on the back side.
- Attach the front paws, hind paws, and tail to the body. Make sure the front paws are not too far apart from each other, so that the hind paws can fit next to the front paws.
- If needed you can sew the top parts of the front paws together to make the paws more centered.
