Designer: Justamom Crocheting
Meet a tiny sea creature with little ears on the sides that you probably never heard about before – the dumbo octopus. This is a fascinating species of octopus that lives deep in the ocean, and you can instantly recognize it by the ear-like fins on the sides of its head.
To make this amigurumi pet, you will need chenille yarn in any color of your choice, because there are really no bad color combinations for this pattern, a 4 mm crochet hook, safety eyes, stuffing, and stitch markers.
This pattern is beginner-friendly, it does not require any sewing or any difficult stitches besides regular increases and decreases, and it works up quickly in one sitting with the head and body made together.
Crochet your own unique little octopus or make a whole collection in different colors. You can use it as a keychain or gift it to friends and family, although it might be better to make at least two, because once you start making them, it is hard to stop.

Head & Body
The head and body are worked all in one piece, starting with the top of the head and working down.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in a Mr (8)
Only the dumbos ears are worked in the FLO. If it helps, mark the back loops of the ears, we will be working in those in rnd 3.
Rnd 2: 1 sc, inc, *FLO: [sl st, ch 2, 2 CFH, 1 sc, sl st back in same body st]*, inc, 1 sc, inc, repeat * to *, inc (12)
Rnd 3: 1 sc, inc 1 sc, BLO: inc, (1 sc, inc) x 2, 1 sc, BLO: inc, 1 sc, inc (18)
Rnd 4-5: 18 sc (18) (2 rounds)
Rnd 6: (7 sc, dec) x 2 (16)
Rnd 7: 16 sc (16)
We will be working the tentacles in the next rnd. Each tentacle is worked all in one st, with 1 sc in between.
Rnd 8: FLO: ( [1 sc, hdc, ch 3, 2 CFH, sl st, inc, sc into the same base body st], 1 sc) x 8
After your last tentacle, do a sl st in the last st of the rnd, instead of a sc!
Sl st into the first sc from the first tentacle. Add eyes between rnds 5-6 – in line with the ears, approx 3-4 sts apart.

Rnd 9: BLO: dec x 8 (8)
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing the body closed. Stuff your octopus – make sure to round him out. To close, use the yarn tail, thread onto a needle and weave the needle throught the FLO sts of rnd 9 and pull gently but firmly to close. Hide tail.
