A sweet crochet ladybug made with soft yarn. This little bug has a chubby grey head, big sparkly safety eyes, cute black antennae, and a cheerful yellow shell decorated with bold black-and-red spots, which gives it an extra playful look.
This pattern is beginner-friendly, all you need to finish it is to know some basic crochet techniques like increasing, decreasing, changing colors, and sewing the parts together.
You will need medium weight yarn in different colors (especially for the spots), so you can really use your imagination here, a 3 mm crochet hook, safety eyes, and stuffing.
Use this cute ladybug as a soft toy, a lovely shelf decoration, or as part of your growing amigurumi collection. Don’t forget to change the shell and spot colors to give your little ladybug its own unique look.

- Medium weight yarn in dark gray, black, a color fot the elytra (back-part), (left over), yarn in 5 other colors for the spots and (left over) pink and white for the face details.

Elytra

Antenna x2
Use black yarn. Starting at the top of the antenna.
Rnd 1: start 6 sc in Mr (6)
Rnd 2-4: sc in all 6 st (6) (3 rounds)
Sl st in next st. Fasten off. Make sure to leave a long tail. The antennae don’t need to be stuffed.
Assembly
- Embroider a stand of black yarn across the middle of the elytra.
- Use pins to position the head onto the body. The head should be positioned between rnd 6 of the belly and rnd 9 of the elytra. You can use the head to cover up the part where the two pars of the body are joined. Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill while sewing it onto the body.
- Use pins to position the spots onto the elytra.
- Sew the legs onto the belly, between rnd 7 and rnd 10. Sew the antennae on the top of the head between rnd 8 and 10, above the eyes.
- Use a strand of white yarn to embroider the white edge around each eye. Insert the needle in the head and make it come out just under the eye. Then insert it back just above the eye. Make it come out again just above the other eye and insert it back just under it. With a strand of pink yarn, embroider two little cheek spots under each eye, over one st.
