This tutorial is easy and beginner-friendly, and works up quickly; it makes a great toy, gift, or springtime decoration, nursery décor for baby rooms, party favors for kids’ birthdays.
All you need to make this cute duck is to know some basic crochet stitches like single crochet stitches, some crochet techniques like increase, decrease, how to sew parts, and weave in ends.
You can customize this tutorial and make it with different colors, adding a keychain, a flower to its head, or a bow to give it different looks.

This is a fabulous pattern and easy. I wish the head shape was more round than oval. Thank you for making it a free pattern. Colleen
Hi. Rnd 2 says inc. Rnd 3. I understand. Please clarify for me thanks. Shelly
Hi Shelly!
In Rnd 2 “inc around” means to make an increase in each stitch (8 increases total).
So you go from 8 sts to 16. Rnd 3 is correct as written.
Hope this helps! 😊
Thank you
Hi thank you for this. I’m a first time crocheter and am able to follow along up to Rnd 9. Can you pls explain Rnd 9? Thank you!
I absolutely loved making this duck! 😍 I’ve made three so far.! Is there any way to adjust the pattern to size 7 jumbo yarn?
Hi! You can make ducks with different yarns with this same pattern. It should work with any yarn size.
I’m also struggling to understand that part of the pattern as well. Im at round 5 and im wondering if the body will look like the picture or not as it looks like it will be more round then oblong..
