I made it to the end of segment one. Am I supposed to cut the yarn before closing it off with the needle? I can’t figure out how to close it with the yarn still attached and be able to get the stitch for the second segment to start where I need it to.

In reply to Adalita. You do the increases around in the decrease stitches from round 8, and then you do the chain in the last stitch of round 9

In reply to MamaNeek. Thank you so much for catching this! We've corrected Round 10, it should be 4 sc, 1 dec, 25 sc, 1 dec, 21 sc (52). It was 2 dec in the first segment instead of 1, which is what caused the stitch count to come up short.

Um, the pattern is broken. I got to row 8 and thought I counted my stitches wrong on row 7 because I was one single crochet short of getting 54 stitches. So, I just did an increase so that I would have 54 stitches. Then I did row 9 and counted, with stitch markers to help, and it was 54. I then moved on to row 10, and I’m at the end with 2 stitches still needing to be added, meaning I only have 50. I didn’t miss any stitches or do too many decreases. I followed it exactly and I only have 50 stitches. I really wanted to do this ditto because it would be a challenge but also, my partner really wanted a ditto, but I can’t do that if the pattern doesn’t work, math wise.
