Head

Body

In yellow:

Begin by holding the head upside down and face pointing away from you. Note: you will be placing 6 sc into the bottom of the head (using round 13 as a guide for stitch placement).

You will start the row at the back of the head.

Legs x2

Add extra hdc until you get to the centre if the back.

Lay the body flat to figure out how to place the legs (there will be 5 stitches designated for each leg, that will leave 8 stitches total unworked).

Using stitch markers, mark 5 stitches for each leg, with a 4 stitch gap in between on each side. Add extra Hdc to get to the first st marker. If needed.

First leg

Change color to Almond.

Leave long yellow tail to sew gap shut between legs later.

Working the designated 5 stitches only:

Rnd 1: sc inc x 5 (10)
Rnd 2: (4 sc, inc) x 2 (12)
Rnd 3: (5 sc, inc) x 2 (14)
Rnd 4: Fold in half. Stitch both sides together: sc 7 (7) ch 1 and turn
Rnd 5: skip the 1st stitch. Into next stitch: ( [Hdc, Picot2, Hdc], sl st) x 2, [Hdc, Picot2, Hdc] ch 1, sl st into last stitch

Fasten off and weave in end.

Second Leg

Add almond yarn to centre stitch between the stitch markers.

Rnd 1-2: same as first leg
Rnd 3: 1 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 4 sc (14) + 1 extra sc to get to the leg edge
Rnd 4-5: same as leg 1

Fasten off and weave in end.

Use the yellow yarn tail to sew the gap between the legs.

Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the body.

Sl st and fasten off. Leave a long tail to sew onto the face.

Sew the beak so that it is centered to the eyes. The 3 inc at the top middle of the beak will be sewn between rounds 7+8, in line with the eyes. The bottom of the beak will be sewn into rounds 10 + 11.
